With a subscription to the Lynda.com website, one downloads their tutorials’ movie files directly (and, if a premium subscription, the accompanying exercise files as well). Only the purchasers of their DVDs are able to make use of a menu system or graphical user interface (GUI) to view the movies.
The GUI makes the presentation of the movies more efficient, especially as movies within a chapter can be played sequentially with a single click. Unfortunately, Lynda tutorials shared through bittorrent often lack the corresponding GUI files so replicas have to be created to restore their functionality.

So how do I use these?

* First, you need to download the actual tutorial movies. These are often distributed as ISO images (an archive file representing the entire contents of an optical disc). Many can be found on Demonoid.
* Second, download and unrar (ie. decompress with WinRAR) the corresponding GUI file. This will create a folder with the necessary subfolder structure on your hard drive.
* Next, you need to extract the movie files from the ISO and copy them to the appropriate locations in the GUI folder structure. Often this will be accomplished by mounting the ISO as a virtual drive, however, WinRAR is also able to open ISO files and extract their contents. Once you have located the movie files they should be copied into their corresponding “..datamovieschapxx” folders in the GUI. For example, Movies that begin with 00_ should be copied to the …chap00 folder, movies that begin with 12_ should be copied to the …chap12 folder, etc.
* Finally, the exercise files can be extracted to the …exercise files folder.

Please remember that the total path cannot exceed 255 characters or you will get an error message when you start up the windowmode.exe file!!!

But if you are using a Mac…
Included in this collection is a Mac Gui Apps.sit file. Unstuffing the contents to the root folder of any GUI should enable Mac functionality. Sorry I don’t have a Mac and can’t advise you further.

Well, they did evolve over time, but if you want to replace my meager efforts your own creations, you will also find a folder with blank background art to assist you.

When used in conjunction with secure WebDAV, FTP, FTPS, or SFTP servers, WebDrive will open an encrypted tunnel between the client computer and the remote server; giving you secure transmission of critical data over the Internet.

WebDrive can also be used as an alternative to a corporate VPN. Install the WebDrive client and an SSL enabled server, and WebDrive can act as the VPN for your company; an efficient alternative to an expensive VPN and non-secure FTP client connections. Use the site manager to define the servers you wish to map to drive letters. Enter the server URL and your username and password and press “connect,” to map the selected drive letter to your server.

You can map different directories on the same server to unique drive letters. This provides easier access to frequently updated directories. You can also map unique drive letters to different server types - one drive to an SFTP server, one to a WebDAV server and another to an FTP or FTPS server. You can also map a drive to Amazon Web Services. This is functionality not available in typical FTP software. WebDrive supports WebDAV, the Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning protocol. WebDAV enables collaboration on a centrally located set of files.

WebDAV is also more firewall friendly than other protocols. By mapping a drive letter to a WebDAV server, WebDrive allows you to lock files, modify them, and then release the locks so that others can view and edit. By using WebDAV locking concepts, WebDrive ensures data integrity.

Because WebDrive can connect to FTP, FTPS, SFTP, S3 and WebDAV servers, user’s can store, access and collaborate on files in many locations – though the familiar interface of a drive letter.
